Grand Baie - The Tourism Capital Of Mauritius Featuring Some Splendid Holiday Resorts

Grand Bay (or Grand Baie) is the focal point of the north, a modern beach resort with many shops and hotels.  Considered one of the main nightlife areas, there are a number of restaurants, bars and nightclubs. 

Tourism in Grand Baie has simply exploded over the past few years and there are a huge number of resorts, restaurants and people concentrated in this Northern region of Mauritius.

Similar to Trou Aux Biches, Grand Baie is well known for the wealth of water sports on offer. 

If you can then take a ride in one of the �mini yellow submarines� (semisubmersibles) which takes you deep into the waters where you can view the coral and marine life in a very unique way. This is a great experience but expect to pay up to $100 per ticked for an hours ride.

As you may expect, there are the usual offerings of Deep Sea Fishing and Diving. You can even take an undersea walk � offered on Royal Rd where you amble along the ocean floor sporting a diving helmet. Great experience if you have the nerve.

The beaches and lagoons in the area are sheltered, but a sweatshirt or warm top is recommended for the winter evenings of June to September. Grand Bay gets very hot and humid in the summer.
